Day 43: Your Wife is Your Crown

Proverbs 12:4

A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown,
but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.

Principle

Draw strength from your wife.

There is no greater asset for a man than to have a strong wife beside him. There is no greater weakness for a man than to have a shameful wife.

Job is a biblical example of a wife who shamed him when he needed her the most. Job was suffering from a series of horrendous satanic attacks – thieves, fire, raiding parties, tornadoes, and disease – accumulating disaster upon disaster. Now, he lays in a sick bed when his wife prods him to curse God and die.

His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!” – Job 2:9

You can imagine Job’s disappointment when the mother of his ten children speaks that way rather than speaking words of faith and encouragement. Job languished later, “my crown is removed from my head.” (Job 19:9)

She was once a crown upon his head; now she has shamed him—such a disappointment.

As men who are striving to be authentic in our walk with God, our families, and our friends – there are some men who are struggling – you may be going through something that is disastrous – you may be facing all kinds of tragic events – you may have even suffered the betrayal of your wife.

With all of that said – don’t give up. Don’t give in to despair. Keep your integrity, and God will see you through.

For the men who have a strong wife, one with a noble character, you should celebrate her. The fact that she will endure hardship with you and not cower at disaster – she is a prized possession – a crown to adorn you.

Remember:

When disaster strikes, draw strength from one another. Click To Tweet
