Leadership is an amazing position of responsibility. As a man, you are created with purpose to be a leader. You are responsible to lead your family and often to be a leader at work or in the community. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived gives some very challenging insight into four qualities of a leader. His advise is priceless.
Human nature being what it is, we tend to rest on our laurels. When the risk is removed, our drive is often removed as well. When it comes to tenure, what started out as well meaning, has gone horribly wrong – to the point that I believe the entire tenure system needs to be yanked.
Father, you cannot underestimate the power of the words that you speak over your children. As a father, your words can have the power of life and death.
One of the most challenging things men must to do is to lead their family spiritually. Men ask me regularly, “How do you lead family devotions?” I have to admit that we have not consistently practiced family devotions.
God is so interested in man’s ability to work that he delayed the agrarian process until the time for Man to be created. That’s how important you are to the cycle and system of earth! Unfortunately, Adam was unfaithful to his employer, namely God the Creator.
As a leader—whether in ministry, work, sports or any worthwhile endeavor—your goal should be to actively develop a culture of encouragement. Another way of stating this is that we want to build a “Barnabas Culture.”
