Proverbs 20:5

The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Principle

When a man understands his purposes, his life becomes a passionate pursuit of authentic manhood.

In this verse, the word, man, is the word, `iysh, which means masculine male, as opposed to a woman. This word is a reservoir of understanding regarding the male. Words used to describe a man are husband, manly-minded, valor, citizen, companion, champion, intelligent, nobility, and soldier, to name a few.

I categorized the definition of authentic manhood into five distinct purposes that every man has within him. He has an adventurous spirit, entrepreneurial drive, gallant in relationships, faithful in character, and philanthropic in a cause. Thus, the FivestarMan draws upon these five purposes and expresses them by encouragement daily, engage with other men weekly, have excursions monthly, a spiritual encounter quarterly, and accomplish great exploits annually.

When we speak to the purposes of men, they cast off the things that constrain them. The surge of masculinity comes from deep within the reservoir of purposes. In other words, when a man is engaged in a fight, he doesn’t have time for trivial pursuits.

When the purpose is unknown, abuse is inevitable. If a man doesn’t have the right thing to fight for, he will find the wrong thing to fight against.

Proverbs 20:5 is the foundational scripture for FivestarMan. We are building a movement of authentic manhood.
