Day 134: Life Isn’t Simple

Proverbs 14:15

The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps.

Principle

Life isn’t simple; it takes careful thought and planning to live.

There’s never been a time for more information to be at our fingertips (literally). However, unless you sift through the information, you’re going to be duped into believing anything. There is a ton of misinformation and lies that people are spewing from their vacuous minds. There are people with an agenda that lead to false information.

When I was young and naive, I trusted – now that I am older and wiser, I test.

We should be cautious when considering the direction that we are going and what we’re willing to believe. We need to be prudent, which means that we are sensible, skillful, and wise when considering information.

One day a salesman wanted to recruit me into a marketing strategy that promised financial independence and elaborate company rewards. To try to close the deal, he spoke despairingly about a competitor – even saying that they have an alliance with Satan – he pointed to a picture of a mark on his competitor’s product. Knowing that I am a Christian, he assumed that I would take up the cause against this evil corporation.

I thanked him for sharing the opportunity and told him that I would get back to him soon. After he left, I called his competitor and asked for their public relations department. I inquired about the emblem on their products and asked for the history behind it. After explaining the mark, I knew that the salesman had fed me a lot of misinformation or even lies. Obviously, I declined the invitation to be involved with his marketing strategy.
