Day 144: Men Matter!
Proverbs 24:11
Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.

Men matter!
On my way to catch an early Saturday morning flight to Washington D.C., a working man’s truck passed me. Shortly after, a sheriff’s car came speeding by me and pulled behind the truck in the distance. Another police officer sped up to catch them. Then another. I slowed to keep a safe distance to observe what was happening. A few miles later, the white truck comes to a stop in the left lane of the interstate. The 3 police vehicles pull strategically around the truck as the police officers withdraw their weapons to aim. I am slowly coming up to the site and pull far to the right to pass and avoid the situation. As I turn to see the man stand outside his truck – he pulls up a pistol – the police fire from three angles and kills the man.
That was the first time that I witnessed the killing of a man. It was haunting enough as a passerby; I can’t imagine what the police officers experienced.
The news reports that evening told the back story. The man was facing tremendous financial pressure and succumbed to the temptation to rob a bank. Obviously, an ill-conceived and hasty decision turned into the permanence of death.
Our Advisor tells us to notice and rescue those being led away to death – even those staggering toward slaughter.

My emotions are responding to this purpose, even as I write this – men matter! We stop playing “patty cake” and silly little games – it’s time that we stand up – put our shoulders back and speak to this culture!

Amazing message!
I can relate to this in so many ways. I too am at the bottom of the barrel trying to lift myself up and out. The most amazing thing is, there are no men around to help me. I have visited churches in my city located in the Bible Belt, but no door are open from necessary brotherhood. There are no men’s groups for studying and certainly no “sound biblical advice” for situations in life. I have even searched and found on the internet call to talk to someone lines only to wait for few minutes to receive a “we’re sorry it is not available. Leave a contact email and we will write you back when we can.”
I can honestly say, it saddens me that we speak all the words of being these great beings, but yet fall short of being that great.
I do appreciate your wonderful daily email. It gives me great inspiration everyday for a short while. I just pray for men around me to become more of men and keep those others going to slaughter off the doomed path by actually ‘being there’.

Thank you for this message! Yes men do matter. In a world where we see authentic Manhood being attacked daily. This type of message needs to be said over and over again. We do matter. It is time to honor a Patriarchal society once again. Men of honor, men who love their wife and children and above all that men who love the Lord, and truly love for Him ????????
