Day 159: Proof of Desire is Pursuit

Proverbs 8:14

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

Principle

You do not have the right to anything in your life that you are unwilling to pursue.

Solomon paid a heavy price for wisdom – he had offered 1,000 burnt offerings unto the Lord when he became King. The Lord offered to grant the desires of Solomon’s heart. Solomon chose wisely – he asked for wisdom. Because Solomon asked for wisdom, which is the principal thing – the first of all creation, God granted everything else that he could have wanted.

Proverbs is a collection of wisdom nuggets that Solomon passed on to us. Solomon spoke three thousand proverbs. He wrote 1005 songs. His wisdom became legendary. He mastered botany, ethology, and zoology. He became a master of architectural design for both buildings and gardens. He oversaw the design of cities and engineering infrastructure. He mastered finances. Solomon understood ethnology – understanding people and behavioral sciences.

4 Steps Into A Successful Life:

  1. Begin with counsel. Counsel is the faculty of forming plans, an instrument to execute a purpose. It ensures success.
  2. Listen for sound wisdom. As you listen to counselors, you must discern sound advice. Sound wisdom is described as erecting or raising. It is edifying – builds you up.
  3. Gain understanding. Understanding is the art of learning. It is a specialty skill and intellect. Comparable to comprehending a language that others don’t know – hearing and knowing the interpretation.
  4. Demonstrate strength in your decision. You began with gathering counsel. As you listened, you gained wisdom and pulled out what was sound and agreeable to you. You now have a specialty in this matter – a skill, an art of knowledge. Now you are strengthened to succeed. You have the ability and power to succeed.
