Proverbs 15:12

Mockers resent correction, so they avoid the wise.

Principle

Mockers use a juvenile tactic to avoid the truth and wisdom.

The Bible is clear – one of the signs of the last days is that people will become childish regarding the promises of God – they will mock and ridicule God. Mockers use this tactic to avoid the truth and wisdom that God’s Word brings. It is childish because they change their voice and mimic people – making fun of characteristics and mannerisms of people who are passionate about the truth.

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts. (2 Peter 3:3)

In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts. (Jude 1:18)

We need to be alert to this kind of rhetoric because it’s subtle humor can catch us off guard. We can find ourselves agreeing with them when they haven’t really made a reasonable argument.

Without being political – we need to be vigilant to not allow our politicians to use this tactic to sway populous opinion. We have serious matters that we face and we need to handle them with serious thought and wisdom.
