Day 196: Mockers Avoid Wisdom

Day 196: Mockers Avoid Wisdom
July 15, 2014 Neil Kennedy

Proverbs 15:12

Mockers resent correction, so they avoid the wise.

Principle

Mockers use a juvenile tactic to avoid the truth and wisdom.

The Bible is clear – one of the signs of the last days is that people will become childish regarding the promises of God – they will mock and ridicule God. Mockers use this tactic to avoid the truth and wisdom that God’s Word brings. It is childish because they change their voice and mimic people – making fun of the characteristics and mannerisms of people who are passionate about the truth.

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts. (2 Peter 3:3)

In the last time, there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts. (Jude 1:18)

We must be alert to this kind of rhetoric because its subtle humor can catch us off guard. We can find ourselves agreeing with them when they haven’t made a reasonable argument.

Without being political – we need to be vigilant not to allow our politicians to use this tactic to sway populous opinion. We face serious matters, and we need to handle them with serious thought and wisdom.
