Day 200: Align Your Plans With God’s Purposes

Proverbs 19:21

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Principle

The plans within your mind should be in harmony with the purposes of God.

One thing I’ve learned about men is that they certainly have a lot of plans. It seems that everyone has a plan. They plan to do this. They plan to do that. Yet, very few understand how and if their plan fits God’s purposes.

Jesus told a story about a wealthy man who had an exceptional increase in his harvest. The wealthy man said to himself, “What can I do? My barn isn’t big enough for this harvest.” Then he said, “here’s what I’ll do: I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll gather in all my grain and goods and say to myself, Self, you’ve done well! You’ve got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life!” (Luke 12:16-19)

This wealthy man indeed was being entrepreneurial – a purpose of authentic manhood – however, he wasn’t faithful, which is another purpose of authentic manhood. Although rich, he didn’t align his plans with God’s purposes.

That’s what a lot of men do. They use the deep purposes that are within themselves only for themselves. The five purposes of authentic manhood work in agreement and alignment with each other. In other words, they don’t stand alone—they work in harmony.
