Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
The plans within your mind should be in harmony with the purposes of God.
One thing that I’ve learned about men is that they certainly have a lot of plans. It seems that everyone has a plan. They plan to do this. They plan to do that. Yet, very few actually understand how and if their plan fits within the purposes of God.
Jesus told a story about a wealthy man who had an exceptional increase in his harvest. The wealthy man said to himself, “What can I do? My barn isn’t big enough for this harvest.” Then he said, “here’s what I’ll do: I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll gather in all my grain and goods, and I’ll say to myself, Self, you’ve done well! You’ve got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life!” (Luke 12:16-19)
This wealthy man certainly was being entrepreneurial – a purpose of authentic manhood – however, he wasn’t faithful, which is another purpose of authentic manhood. Although he was wealthy, he didn’t align his plans with God’s purposes.
That’s what a lot of men do. They use the deep purposes that are within themselves only for themselves. The five purposes within authentic manhood work in agreement and alignment with each other. In other words, they don’t stand on their own. The work in harmony.
Be sure to check with God before you boast about all of your plans.
