Day 218: Fire Walker

Proverbs 6:28

Can you walk barefoot on hot coals and not get blisters?

Principle

Don’t play with fire.

A motivational guru selling high-energy tapes on infomercials also pitches high-end seminars where people can get pumped up and then take their turn walking on hot coals. Firewalking aims to get people to step out of their comfort zone and do something they consider impossible. There’s a trick to walking on coals without getting burned – the coals had to be positioned right and held at the perfect temperature for the seminarians to do it successfully.

Unfortunately, two dozen people were seriously burned at a San Diego conference.

It doesn’t take fire walking to realize you can get burned. At FivestarMan, one of the deep passions of authentic manhood is exercising the adventurous spirit. We challenge men to get out of the comfort of the couch and get back on the field of contest. We encourage you to have excursions – golf, hunt, ride bikes, fish, et cetera – to do something that fulfills the adventurous spirit.

However, please don’t do it stupidly. Let’s be rational about it. Let’s be wise in making decisions.

Remember:

Play with fire and you'll be burned. Click To Tweet
