Day 226: Work Brings Profit

Proverbs 13:20

Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!

Principle

Profit is excellence.

The Hebrew word for profit, mowthar, means excellence. It represents the margin over the cost of something. So, excellence is what is expected – it is abundance – it is the increase.

Work brings profit.

I’ve noticed a trend of late that causes me concern for some men – it seems that a lot of men have all talk and no action. Solomon warns that talk alone isn’t enough. Confession without corresponding action is meaningless and will only lead to poverty.

I’ve known men that can talk big, but when it comes to deliverables, they never show up. Some men are described as “clouds without rain.” In other words, they make a lot of promises but never deliver.
