Day 228: Moral Leadership

Proverbs 16:13

Good leaders abhor wrongdoing of all kinds; sound leadership has a moral foundation.

Principle

Leadership must meet the moral challenge of the day.

There has always been a deficit of moral leadership – it’s not new to our day; however, we must be courageous enough to recognize and even demand that our leaders have morality at their foundation.

It is not our position at FivestarMan to be political, but I want to use an example demonstrating the need for moral clarity. During the Clinton scandal, the argument for his defense became that his inappropriate relationship with an intern was a “personal” matter. That argument would never fly in the private sector – a CEO would be escorted immediately.

Unfortunately, the collateral damage of excusing this abhorrent behavior had repercussions on the nation. As a pastor, I saw the definition of “sexual relationship” become merely “friends with benefits.” The foundation stone of morality was redefined.

Remember:

Sound leadership must honor a moral foundation and abhor wrongdoing of all kinds. Click To Tweet
