The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.
The reward of fathering is witnessing his children make wise decisions.
It is impossible to measure the joy and pleasure it is to see your children make wise decisions.
Recently, one of my daughter made a life-changing decision. When I was asked about it, I responded that I’ve invested a couple of decades raising my daughter for this occasion. I’ve seen her previously make a wise decision that was contrary to her feelings. That proved to me that she is carefully weighing her decisions.
How do you raise a child to make wise decisions? I believe that you teach them to forecast the benefits or consequences of a decision. Let them play out the scenarios with you without your personal judgment while they’re talking it out. Then ask a question or two to help navigate their discernment.
Also, it is good to draw example from the Word of God and show the consequences that resulted in bad decisions. Contrast that with a personal example of how you navigated a decision and the benefits that came.
Invest wisdom in your children.
