Day 241: The Opinions of Men
Proverbs 29:25
The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that.
Principle
If you have the approval of God in the morning, the opinions of men do not matter during the day.
Jesus knew the thoughts of men.
Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. Luke 11:17
Because Jesus understood the instability of men’s opinions – He did not base His assurance and confidence on them. He sought the approval of His Father above all others.
And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased. Matthew 3:17
The approval of God empowered Jesus to walk independently of men’s opinions.
I want to encourage you to seek the approval of God – confirm your position in Christ, and be confident in that relationship. If you do, you will not care what others think.
To be transparent with you, this is something that I established very early in my walk with God. When I decided to follow Christ, I was alienated from almost every single “friend” that I had previously. This developed a tenacity in my character, which has served me well in doing what God directed me.
