Proverbs 31:10

Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
She is more precious than rubies.
Her husband can trust her,
and she will greatly enrich his life.

Principle

The value of a good wife can’t be measured.

There have many attempts to place the replacement cost of a wife – some estimate the annual salary would be $125,000. However, as Oscar Wilde suggested, economists can calculate the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

Value is determined by the demand of the market – since wives are not traded on the open market – we can’t put an actual price on her value. What we do know is that after seeing Man alone, God concluded that Man needed a helpmate.

God created Man – male and female – He created them (Genesis 1:16). At that stage, Adam had both genders within him. God put Adam to sleep and extracted by surgery the feminine side of Man. Now, the only feminine side of the man should be his wife. She is the perfect compliment to the male.

Single guys – I strongly recommend that you make wise and discerning decisions regarding whom you will date and the intention of marriage. I would recommend that you never date a girl that is not a candidate for a proposal.

Married guys – I encourage you to show how much you value your wife. If she isn’t all that you thought she would be – spend quality time, effort, and money to cultivate what attracted you to her in the first place. Don’t sow negative words expecting positive results. Sow kind and comforting words – show your gratitude for her.
