Day 255: Plans or Schemes

Proverbs 12:20

Evil scheming distorts the schemer; peace planning brings joy to the planner.

Principle

If a man gives himself over to evil scheming, his mind becomes distorted.

Men have a remarkable ability – that is, the ability to use our imagination to engineer, create, draw, design, write, visualize, and plan. Our thoughts can work through troubles and crises and strategize and see possible futures. It’s fascinating that God has given us such a gift of unlimited ability.

However, if we misuse our imagination, we can darken our thoughts toward evil. Plotting and scheming evil brings a distortion into our thoughts. That’s one of the real possibilities to gazing upon pornography. The man who gives himself to lustful fantasies darkens his mind. His thinking becomes distorted and perverted.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:5

We can control our thoughts. We can take captive any thought that does not align with God’s Word – this will make us planners, not schemers. In the end, our plans will bring joy into our lives.
