Day 260: Stop Fussing

Proverbs 17:14

Starting a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so stop before a dispute breaks out.

Principle

A quarrel is the seed of strife. Strife is the manifested presence of evil.

Have you ever been around people who fuss all of the time? It seems that some people thrive on drama. Some families are always at it – fussing and cussing. That’s not the atmosphere that you want in your home. It can become dangerous – a dangerous dispute can break out from small fights.

My wife and I established very early that we wouldn’t have a home filled with strife – we wouldn’t jar at each other or fuss over small things. I know this is a rarity – but we will not raise our voices at each other. Don’t get me wrong – we’ve disagreed, but we do not argue and fight to get our way.

Some say, “Well, we enjoy a good fight now and then.”

One of the byproducts of not arguing and fussing in our home is that our children don’t argue with one another. They copied our behavior of having a conversation rather than yelling or throwing tantrums to get their way.
