Day 286: Injustice

Proverbs 13:23

The fallow ground of the poor would yield much food, but it is swept away through injustice.

Principle

Injustice rules this world.

Have you read insurance documents and noted the “acts of god ” clause?” Insurance companies refer to “acts of god” as something disastrous—always in the negative.

People often will reference someone’s death and attribute their untimely departure as “god’s will.” Others ask, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” We see the tragedies of this world and shake our heads — some will stomp their feet and shake their fists—at god. (I used the little “g” for god on purpose to distinguish between the One True God Almighty, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the god of this world—namely, Satan—2 Corinthians 4:4)

Interestingly, these people often say that they believe in God; however, they assign all acts to His will and character. So, sickness and disease, even death, are attributed to God.

Today’s proverb assigns the misfortune and disaster of the poor person’s field to injustice. Injustice is a violation. It involves a more powerful opponent using excessive force to harm or violate another person. It is usually unfairness.

This doesn’t sound nor represent the character of God. The Psalmist proclaimed, “The heavens declare his righteousness, for he is a God who sees injustice every day.” We see injustice every day—those who do injustice. Governments execute injustices toward the people they are elected to serve. They secure power from people and then abuse and use it against them.

Is there injustice in this world? You bet there is—it comes from the god of this world—not God Almighty, the righteous and Holy, God of Justice.
