Day 319: A Timely Word

Everyone enjoys a fitting reply;
it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time!

One Word from God can change your life.
My children never know what to get me for special occasions. They’re at a loss when trying to figure out what to buy. When they ask in desperation, “Dad, what do you want?” I’ll suggest that they get a card and write a note.
I value words more than anything else.
Not long ago, I gave my son a card for a special day. He opened the envelope, barely read the words on the front, opened it up, and noticed that I hadn’t written anything other than my salutation. He looked up and said, “Where’s the note?”
I always wrote a note expressing my affirmation and encouragement inside the card. This time I hadn’t. He felt cheated.
Jesus valued words more than anything else.
“These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.” – John 14:24
Jesus not only spoke what He had heard from His Father, but He said the words in the way His Father instructed Him to tell them. He spoke words in a “fitting reply.”
It’s important to say the right words and to say them correctly.
