Day 328: The House of Poverty

Proverbs 24:31

They were overgrown with weeds,
thick with thistles, all the fences broken down.
I took a long look and pondered what I saw;
the fields preached me a sermon and I listened:
“A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there,
sit back, take it easy—do you know what comes next?
Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life,
with poverty as your permanent houseguest!”

Principle

The greatest temptation in a man’s life is comfort.

The Advisor takes a stroll down the lane to see the ruins of a home, farm, and vineyard that once thrived under the faithful care of the owner. Now, it is falling apart. The owner has taken time off, napping, sitting back, seduced by the comfort of the couch.

The Garden that God planted for Adam was a storehouse of seeds. God’s first gift to Adam was the currency of seed—with seed, he could dominate the entire earth transforming it into a fantastic abundance of harvest. The resources would be unlimited.

However, Adam embezzled God’s property; poverty was the result for him. Adam’s failure caused the land to produce thorns and thistles rather than fruits and vegetables. Systemic poverty is the daily toil of life for mankind.

As we gain an understanding of the deep passions of authentic manhood, we become proficient with the entrepreneurial drive that is within us. This drive gives us discernment and insight into how to produce and thrive against poverty continually.
