Day 351: Words Matter

Proverbs 17:4

Evil people relish malicious conversation; the ears of liars itch for dirty gossip.

Principle

Those who speak to you about someone will soon talk about you to someone.

When someone gossips and relishes malicious conversation—It’s a sign of weak minds and insecure identities. That kind of language reveals the darkness in a person’s heart and displays an ignorance of the power of words. The tongue has the power of life and death.

Words matter.

The confession of three words can transform a person’s identity from a sinner into a saint. Think about it—three words! Three words, “Jesus is Lord.”

If any of our words matter, then all of our words matter. We must be mindful of what we say, not only about ourselves but also others.

Gossip is the use of words to destroy the influence and reputation of a person. It is worse than stealing money because money can be replaced; however, the words of a gossip are feathers in the wind—you will never gather them back up.

Gossip is any organization is a cancer. It is decisive and it creates contention.
Gossip was forbidden in my division at the bank. It was discussed at hire & in monthly visits & reviews. “If you don’t have something good to say about someone, keep your mouth shut”. Fairly simple.
With gossiping; you’re either part of the problem or part of the solution.
