Day 360: Lies and Flattery are Hurtful

Proverbs 26:28

A lying tongue hates its victims,
and flattering words cause ruin.

Principle

The delusional believe a lie by speaking it.

Have you ever been the recipient of excessive and insincere praise? You know that the person pouring it out is using deceptive words for their gain. Frankly, it’s not only deceptive; it’s disgusting behavior.

Satan is called the father of lies. Think about that. He was the first personality to pervert truth for personal gain. Now, he masters mendacity (the art of lying). Those who practice perversion, lies, and flattery are using his schemes and devices for their personal gain.

In the case of Satan, his lies originated because he wanted to exalt himself and usurp the Almighty God. As preposterous as it sounds, that is precisely what happens to the delusional mind; the lying thoughts become “truth” to them. They believe a lie by speaking it.

The quickest path to confused minds and delusional thinking is choosing to believe a lie.

Know this—if someone uses flattery, they have evil in mind for you. People lie because they hate you. Often, there is something that you have that they want.
