Day 362: Not All Prayers Are Heard

Proverbs 28:9

God has no use for the prayers
of the people who won’t listen to him.

Principle

Praying is a conversation with the Almighty; it is important to listen to Him.

None of us like to suffer fools—Biblically defined as self-confident, boastful, know-it-alls. The Hebrew word for fool is pictured as Orion, the giant constellation, described being impious and boastful. Job is asked by the Lord, “Can you loosen the cords of Orion?” (Job 38:31).

When one of these guys comes up to you for a conversation, it’s difficult to be polite and maintain decorum. Their arrogance is detestable. The conversation is always dominated by their mouth and never balanced with the use of their ears.

God doesn’t suffer fools, either. They may posture themselves as religious, but their prayers are not heard because they come only to speak and not to listen.

Listening is an active and positive action that requires as much thought as articulating a masterful speech. Listening is a sign of respect for the speaker. It demonstrates humility like almost nothing else. When most people have kneeled in the posture of humility, they still would rather speak than listen.

Remember:

If we want our prayers to be heard, we also need to be prepared to hear. Click To Tweet
