Day 44: Careful Words, Careful Life

Proverbs 13:3

Careful words make for a careful life; careless talk may ruin everything.

Principle

Some men lack a partition between their vacuous mind and their flippant tongue.

Few men realize the potential effect that words can have, especially regarding those who have a husband or father’s positional authority. As a young man, I didn’t realize how potent my words were to those I love. Once I discovered this principle, I began to weigh carefully the choice of words and how I speak them.

Jesus spoke about the incredible potential of words, “The words I speak to you aren’t mere words. I don’t just make them up on my own. The Father who resides in me crafts each word into a divine act.” (John 14:10 Message)

It is pretty overwhelming when you put that kind of potential and emphasis on words; yet, Solomon also said, “The power of life and death are in the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21)

“Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” – Napoleon Hill
