Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged;
parents are the pride of their children.
It takes three generations to establish a legacy.
The distinguishing mark of Abraham – the character quality that captured the attention of God was that Abraham would direct his household and command his children after him. In this way, the covenant promise would be established in three generations as a lasting legacy – Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Solomon said, “A righteous man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children.” (Proverbs 13:22)
The greatest compliment that could be received is to hear your children tell their children, “We serve the God of our father.”
Living with this goal in mind will help you deny a temporary appetite for a more effective future.
