Is There Not a Cause?
David asked this rhetorical question when faced with the prospect of taking on the blasphemous blustering of the warrior giant, Goliath. Although everyone at the line of battle realized the necessity to face this challenge and defeat their enemy, no one had the courage and willingness to step up and be the man. David proved different. You know the story, David did face the giant and won the hefty reward for doing so, and his gift ushered him into the presence of greatness.
We can ask this same rhetorical question, “Is there not a cause?”
The answer is obvious. There are many causes. The follow up question is this, “What are you going to do about it?”
For example, “What are you going to do about poverty?”
As a FivestarMan wanting to step up to authentic manhood and a deep desire to be philanthropic, I’ve asked myself this question. The answer has been to partner with Latin America Childcare and About Poverty to build a school in the midst of systemic poverty.
Latin America ChildCare has a proven track record of transforming the lives of hundreds of thousands of children. I’ve known this organization for more than 25 years and have seen the impressive commitment toward their finances (over 85% of their funds gets directly to the field of need.)
I have also seen their uncompromising commitment to their mission. They don’t dilute their purpose by chasing the latest trend of fund raising appeals. No, they are focused and determined to help children escape the bondage of generational poverty.
Jesus said, “The poor you will always have with you.” This is true. But he did not excuse us from not helping those with whom we have the ability to help. So, what are you doing about poverty?
