Pursue Your Destiny: 5 Steps to Get Where You Are Going

Every man carries a longing deep within—a call to something greater, a destiny etched into his soul by the Creator Himself. The Bible declares in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” God has a purpose for you, a destination that aligns with His divine will. Yet, reaching that destiny requires intentionality, faith, and a steadfast pursuit. As a FivestarMan, you’re called to live authentically masculine, embracing the five purposes—adventure, entrepreneurial drive, gallantry, faith-filled character, and philanthropic cause—that define a godly man. Here are five steps, rooted in Scripture and seasoned with FivestarMan grit, to guide you on your journey.

If a man does not know where he is going, any road will do; however, if he has a destiny, the choices are few.

Step 1: Pursue Your Destiny by Seeking God’s Voice

A man who walks with God will always reach his destiny. Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” The first step to your destiny is tuning your ear to the One who designed it. Too many men chase their own ambitions, only to find themselves lost in a wilderness of their own making. But when you seek God through prayer, Scripture, and stillness, He reveals the path forward.

Start each day asking, “Lord, what’s my assignment today?” Like David, a man after God’s own heart, you’ll find clarity in the quiet. This isn’t passive waiting—it’s active listening, fueling adventure and sharpening your purpose. A FivestarMan doesn’t drift; he seeks the compass of God’s voice.

Step 2: Pursue Your Destiny by Defining Your Purpose

A man focused on his purpose will not be distracted by trivial pursuits. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus instructs, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Your life isn’t about chasing the trivial, sedations, or fleeting pleasures—it’s about aligning with God’s kingdom and your unique role. You’re made for bigger things than living small.

Take inventory of your gifts, passions, and the burdens God has placed on your heart (seat of purposes, seat of appetites, seat of passions, seat of courage). Are you called to lead, to create, to serve? Write it down. Refine it. This is your entrepreneurial drive at work—crafting a vision bigger than yourself. Distractions will come: the lure of comfort, the noise of comparison. But a man anchored in purpose stands firm, his eyes fixed on the eternal prize.

Step 3: Pursue Your Destiny by Taking Bold Steps

A righteous man has established steps. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in His way.” Destiny isn’t a gift dropped in your lap—it’s a journey requiring courage. Consider Abraham, called to leave his homeland, or Joshua, stepping into Canaan against all odds. God establishes your steps, but you’ve got to put your boots on.

What’s one bold action you can take today toward your destiny? Maybe it’s starting that business, mending a relationship, or stepping into leadership. Gallantry isn’t just rescuing damsels—it’s charging toward the purpose God has set before you, even when the giants loom large. Fear will whisper retreat, but faith shouts advance. Take the step.

Step 4: Pursue Your Destiny by Building a Brotherhood

No man reaches his destiny alone. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, “Two are better than one… For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.” Surround yourself with men of integrity—brothers who sharpen you, challenge you, and walk in agreement with you. The FivestarMan life thrives in community, where fidelity to God and one another forges unbreakable bonds.

Jesus didn’t go solo; He built a band of twelve. David had his mighty men. Who’s in your corner? Find men who walk with God, speak truth when you waver, and cheer when you win. Together, you’ll weather the storms and scale the heights. Your destiny isn’t just for you—for those you lift along the way.

Step 5: Pursue Your Destiny by Persevering Through Trials

The road to destiny is rarely smooth. James 1:2-4 exhorts, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” Trials aren’t detours; they’re training grounds. They refine your character, deepen your reliance on God, and prepare you for the weight of your calling.

A FivestarMan doesn’t flinch at adversity—he embraces it as part of the adventure. When the enemy attacks, when doubt creeps in, stand on Romans 8:28: “All things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Perseverance isn’t passive endurance; it’s active trust, pressing forward with the grit of a man who knows his God is faithful.

The Pursuit Is Now

Your destiny isn’t a distant dream—it’s a daily pursuit. A man who walks with God will always reach his destiny, not because the path is easy, but because the Guide knows where He is taking you. A man focused on his purpose will not be distracted by trivial pursuits, for his eyes are set on the eternal. A righteous man has steps that are established, because he trusts the One who orders them.
