Growing up, my sport of choice was wrestling. I was a small guy and so wrestling fit me well and gave me a chance of proving myself against an equal opponent.
To be honest, I don’t know what happened to my trophies and medals. They are lost.
Until recently, I was not motivated by certificates, awards, or honors. However, the Holy Spirit has really changed my heart on the matter.
Dr. Bob Rodgers said to me, “Neil, men need to be recognized. We give awards to boys participating in everything but we rarely acknowledge men who are doing something.”
Amazingly, the Holy Spirit used that statement to change a lifetime of animus to honors. Let me explain.
I believe that if you want the awards of men, do what you do openly. If you want the rewards of God, do what you do privately.
With that in mind, I’ve worked hard to make sure that my motivations are securely private. I’ve seen too many “pay-to-play” type of awards and honors that men use for personal gain. That type of graft is demeaning and dishonoring to authentic manhood.
Yet, now, I see how giving honor to whom honor is due is respectful and a type of humility rather than pretentious.
With that lesson in mind, we’ve created a 45-Day Challenge Coin that we present on completion of the Challenge.
This beautiful and weighty coin serves as reminder to the Challenger that he is a FivestarMan with deep purposes to draw upon and passionately pursue.
We’ve also designed a Certificate of Accomplishment for the Challenger as well as the Challenge Coin.
I expect these awards will be received well and will serve as reminders of the Challenger’s commitment to their pursuit of authentic/Biblical manhood, thus FivestarMan.
As you continue to lead men through the 45-Day Challenge, we want to give honor to you. We’ve created Challenge Coins in the currencies of 5, 25, 50, and 100.
We’ve worked with Hobby Lobby to design a display shadow box for you to show your Challenge Coins and Certificate. This will be a display that represents the men’s lives that you’ve helped to change. It will be a constant reminder of what God can do through servant leadership.
Speaking of servant leadership, let me share with you the distinction of leading with FivestarMan.
